The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2025

The competition is open to anyone aged 11-17. The deadline to enter your poem(s) is midnight BST 31 July 2025. Entries must be written in English, but you can include phrases in your mother tongue or another language. For all the details click here.

The Martha Mills Writing Competition 2025

The London Review Bookshop is proud to announce the third year of the Martha Mills Young Writers’ Prize. Inspired by the curiosity and imagination of Martha Mills, the prize seeks to give young people a chance to explore new themes in their writing and to get their work published. The prize is open to 11-14 year-olds living in the UK.  Further details can be found here.

Chiltern Arts Poetry Competition

We are delighted to announce that three of the entries from BHS have been selected in the shortlisted and runner-up categories of the Chiltern Arts Poetry Competition 2025.

500 Words

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Y7 BHS 500 Words Competition. We received over 50 entries and the standard was very high.  The Year 12 Subject Ambassadors enjoyed reading the stories very much and decided on the following as their top three selection.

The Martha Mills Young Writers' Prize 2024

Congrats to Alice Grace Baxter in Year 9 who has been selected as a runner-up in The Martha Mills Young Writers' Prize 2024 for her story A Child of Death. You can read Alice's story here. Philip Pullman was one of the judges and Alice's story will appear in the prize winners' pamphlet with the winning entries.
