- (25/09) The investment bank, UBS, is hosting a virtual information evening on Tuesday 30th September from 5pm-630pm. Year 11-13 students should attend if they want to find out about internships, apprenticeships and graduate programmes and what UBS looks for in candidates. Click here to apply.
- (25/09) Students in Y11-13 are invited to hear about working in an internal law firm on Thursday 2nd October 5pm-6.30pm. This virtual meeting is hosted by Clifford Chance, where they will talk about their student programmes including further work experience opportunities. Click here to apply.

(12/09) National Energy System Operator (NESO) is opening its doors on 9th October (5pm-730pm at its offices in Wokingham, RG41 5BN) - an opportunity to find out more about careers in engineering and energy distribution. NESO is opening its doors for a select few students at its offices in Wokingham. If you’ve got a passion for STEM and a keen interest in Engineering, then this event is for you. You’ll take part in workshops throughout the evening, view their state-of-the-art engineering and energy facilities, and network with professionals from the industry. (09/09) Lloyds Bank are hosting an online insight presentation for Y11-13 students on Tuesday 16th September (5pm-6pm). Lloyds Banking Group is one of the world’s biggest financial services companies with over 30 million digital customers. At this event, you will participate in workshops, network with their people, and hear about all of the key application deadlines for this year’s opportunities. You’ll hear straight from senior leaders about their journey, as well as recent apprentices and graduates and the advice they wish they’d had when starting out. In addition, all who attend this virtual event will be the first to hear about and apply for over eight in-person events at their offices all across the UK. These events take place on Saturdays, so they don’t impact time out of school or university. In-person opportunities are very rare, especially at huge banks, so this will be your head start to getting your foot in the door. Click here to register.

(09/09) Cisco the global tech company has launched its virtual and in-person work experience schemes taking place October half term. This programme is for those who are female in year 12 or 13, and based in the UK. Applications close Monday 22 September 2025. When: 27 – 30 October 2025. Location:

If you choose the hybrid option, ensure that you can travel to the location. Otherwise, select the virtual programme. Both options offer the same opportunities. Over four days, students will meet and explore departments at Cisco, tackle a group business challenge, and develop key skills like interviewing and CV writing. They'll also learn about the pathways into Cisco, hearing from our apprentices, interns and graduates.

- (14/03) Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is offering a variety of after school, in person, career talks - for any age - in a huge range of clinical and science professions. This term they are offering sessions on careers in pharmacy and medicine. The pharmacy evening takes place on 26th June (5pm-7pm), click here to find out more and book. - (16/1) A guide to degree apprenticeships has just been published here. It offers a good overview of apprenticeships. The companies profiled in detail represent the professions and sectors where the majority of apprenticeships are offering: finance, tech, engineering and construction. But note the list of companies at the back of the booklet is a snapshot of larger firms, not the total.

Useful Websites
Unifrog is a careers platform used in school - every student should have a login.
Prospects is a great website, funded, but independent of UK universities, offering lots of information on graduate jobs. Use the search tool to ask "what can I do with my X degree" and it will provide up-to-date and well-written information with lots of other links.
Investin offers paid-for university and work experience.
The National Career Service offers online career advice and one-to-one advice to anyone over the age of 18.
Springpod offers lots of virtual work experience opportunities (for free).
The Sutton Trust offers summer schools and support for applicants who want to study at competitive universities or apply for degree apprentices with the aim of improving social mobility.

Local FE (16-18) Colleges
Students have a wide variety of options after Year 11. As well as A-Levels at school sixth forms and local colleges, Level 3 BTEC and T level qualifications are offered locally at the colleges below. Students can also apply for Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeships.

University
UCAS is used to apply for university but it is also a database of every course in the UK, so great for researching. It also provides a wide range of useful information on courses, contextual offers etc.
