• (16/9) Y12 and Y13 students interested in careers in business, finance or professional services might like to attend Deloitte's insight evening in their Reading offices on 8th October.  It is an opportunity to:

  • Learn about Deloitte’s degree apprenticeship opportunities, which provide an alternative route into professional services without attending university.

  • Gain insight into business, finance, and technology careers at Deloitte

  • Hear from current apprentices and senior female professionals about their career journeys

  • Take part in interactive sessions designed to develop key employability skills.

  • Receive expert advice on applications and how to stand out in the selection process

• (12/09) National Energy System Operator (NESO) is opening its doors on 9th October (5pm-730pm at its offices in Wokingham, RG41 5BN) - an opportunity to find out more about careers in engineering and energy distribution.  NESO is opening its doors for a select few students at its offices in Wokingham. If you’ve got a passion for STEM and a keen interest in Engineering, then this event is for you. You’ll take part in workshops throughout the evening, view their state-of-the-art engineering and energy facilities, and network with professionals from the industry. Food and drinks will also be provided. This opportunity is available to students in Y11-13, click here to register. 

 

• (12/09) Interested in studying in the US? The USA College Day show takes place on 26th and 27th September in London. It is free to attend, but you must book your place in advance here.

 

• (11/09) One of the more unusual degree apprenticeships on offer is the Government Social Research apprenticeship. For more information, click here. 

 

• (09/09) Lloyds Bank are hosting an online insight presentation for Y11-13 students on Tuesday 16th September (5pm-6pm).  Lloyds Banking Group is one of the world’s biggest financial services companies with over 30 million digital customers. At this event, you will participate in workshops, network with their people, and hear about all of the key application deadlines for this year’s opportunities. You’ll hear straight from senior leaders about their journey, as well as recent apprentices and graduates and the advice they wish they’d had when starting out. In addition, all who attend this virtual event will be the first to hear about and apply for over eight in-person events at their offices all across the UK. These events take place on Saturdays, so they don’t impact time out of school or university. In-person opportunities are very rare, especially at huge banks, so this will be your head start to getting your foot in the door. Click here to register. 

 

• (09/09) If you are interested in oil & gas, BP are offering an online talk about their business: Curious about how bp works behind the scenes? Join Chief of Staff Sonya Adams for an introduction to our Upstream and Downstream businesses—how we find energy, turn it into useful products, and deliver it to the world. You’ll also learn about the wide range of career paths available, from engineering and science to trading and retail, and how your skills can help shape the future of energy. • (09/09) Upskillme are advertising an opportunity to spend the day at GEHealthcare in Chalfont St Giles on 14th October - useful if you are interested in biomedical engineering or healthcare more broadly. Click here to apply. 

 

• (09/09) Cisco the global tech company has launched its virtual and in-person work experience schemes taking place October half term.  This programme is for those who are female in year 12 or 13, and based in the UK. Applications close Monday 22 September 2025. When: 27 – 30 October 2025. Location: 

• Option 1- Hybrid (2 days in office & 2 days virtual) Bedfont (near Heathrow) or Manchester or 

• Option 2 - Fully Virtual

• If you choose the hybrid option, ensure that you can travel to the location. Otherwise, select the virtual programme. Both options offer the same opportunities. Over four days, students will meet and explore departments at Cisco, tackle a group business challenge, and develop key skills like interviewing and CV writing. They'll also learn about the pathways into Cisco, hearing from our apprentices, interns and graduates.

• (04/09) A virtual 'Get into Business and Accounting Event' will take place on Tuesday, September 23rd, from 5pm to 7pm online.  PwC, KPMG, UBS, Forvis Mazars, BDO, RSM, CIMA, Grant Thornton & S&W are all joining. During this fast-paced online insight event, you will hear from these prestigious firms. You will have the opportunity to join breakout room sessions where you can participate in mini workshops, gain a more tailored understanding of specific firms, and hear about how you could kick-start your careers within these companies. Think about work experience for the summer, internships, graduate opportunities and of course, their hugely popular degree apprenticeship programs for you to apply for! Apply here.

 

• (04/09) Students in Y12 thinking of studying the US would find the US College Day university fair useful. Taking place on 26-27 September in London, it is free to attend but you must book (here) in advance. 

 

• (03/09) We are incredibly lucky to be supported by Bucks Healthcare Trust who offer work experience (at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospitals) to students in a variety of clinical and non-clinical areas including:
  • Administrative and clerical (non-clinical)
  • Allied Health Professions: including dietitian, occupational therapist, operating department practitioner (ODP), orthoptist, orthotist, paramedic, physiotherapist, podiatrist, radiographer (diagnostic), speech & language therapist

  • Clinical psychology (please note numbers are very limited)

• (16/05) Bucks Skills Hub has published the May edition of Classroom to Careers Newsletter here. 
• (20/03) A variety of work experience opportunities are advertised here, offered by a range of companies, from GE Healthcare to BT and BP. Apply early! 
• (14/03) Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is offering a variety of after school, in person, career talks - for any age - in a huge range of clinical and science professions. This term they are offering sessions on careers in pharmacy and medicine.  The pharmacy evening takes place on 26th June (5pm-7pm), click here to find out more and book.  The medicine evening takes place on 10th July (5pm-7pm). • (27/01) the BBC offers Taster Days in various departments; you can register here.
• (16/1) A guide to degree apprenticeships has just been published here. It offers a good overview of apprenticeships. The companies profiled in detail represent the professions and sectors where the majority of apprenticeships are offering: finance, tech, engineering and construction. But note the list of companies at the back of the booklet is a snapshot of larger firms, not the total. 
• (5/12) BAe Systems have just launched apprenticeships across the country in a variety roles, lots to choose from here!
• (5/12) Bucks Skills Hub has published the latest edition of Classroom to Careers including information evenings and work experience opportunities., find it here.
• (4/11) Microsoft hs announced the launch of its apprenticeships schemes; find out more and register here.
• (4/11) WSP (engineering and environmental) have launched their apprenticeship schemes here.
